Patient Information

SCMI is a private radiology practice which provides patients with a superior imaging service while maintaining friendly and professional customer service.  Please take a few moments to browse through the information on this page to help you become familiar with our procedures.

Account Payments

Accounts need to be settled at the completion of your visit.  We accept payment by Cash, Cheque, Visa, Mastercard, Bankcard, EFTPOS.  We can also organise and send  the Medicare Rebate documentation ensuring you do not have to wait in a queue. 

Bookings

In most instances SCMI is able to provide same day appointments.  However, in some instances where specialised preparation is required, appointment bookings may be necessary.

Detailed patient instructions will be given at the time of making your appointment.  Please bring your Radiology referral/letter and any previous X-Rays with you on the day of your examination. 

Examination Preparations

X-RAYS
No preparations necessary

ULTRASOUNDS
Upper Abdominal & Renal Doppler - Nothing to eat or drink for 6 hours prior to your examination

Urinary Tract, Bladder, Renal or Pelvic Ultrasound - Drink 1 litre of water 1 hour before your appointment. DO NOT empty your bladder before your appointment (Please present with a full bladder).

Early Obstetrics (17 weeks or less) - Drink 1 litre of water 1 hour before your appointment. DO NOT empty your bladder before your appointment (Please present with a full bladder).

Obstetrics (18 weeks onwards) - Drink 2-3 glasses of water 1 hour before your appointment. DO NOT empty your bladder before your appointment.

CT SCANS
Nothing to eat or drink for 4 hours prior to your examination. Additional preparation information will be given at the time of booking if required. PLEASE ADVISE THE STAFF IF YOU ARE DIABETIC.

FLUOROSCOPY/BARIUM STUDIES
Instructions will be given at the time of booking.

OPG/LAT CEPHALOMETRY
No preparation required.

MAMMOGRAPHY
No powder or underarm deodorant is to be worn. Please bring ALL previous mammography or breast ultrasound films with you on the day of your appointment.

BONE MINERAL DENSITOMETRY (DEXA) SCAN                                                     No preparation required.
